KRS-One Writes The Gospel of Hip Hop in New Book

KRS-One is set to release a new book, titled The Gospel of Hip Hop: The First Instrument, the first from his I Am Hop Hop series via PowerHouse Books.

The upcoming book is set in the format of a self-help book, and is 800-plus pages in length. According to the publisher, it's "a spiritual manual for citizens of hip-hop culture that combines classic philosophy with faith and practical knowledge for a fascinating, in-depth exploration of hip-hop as a life path."

Known as "the teacha," KRS-One developed his unique outlook as a homeless teen in Bronx, NY engaging his philosophy of self-creation to become one of the most respected MCs in the genre's history. In the book, KRS painstakingly details the development of the culture and the ways in which we, as "hiphoppas," can and should preserve its future.

He also discusses the origination of hip-hop culture and relays specific instances in history wherein one can discover the same spirit and ideas that are at the core of its current manifestation. He explains hip-hop down to the actual meaning and liguistic history of the words "hip" and "hop," and describes the ways in which hiphoppas can change their current circumstance to create a future that incorporates health, love, awareness and wealth (H-LAW).

KRS is also the author of other books such as The Science of Rap (self-published, 1995) and Ruminations (Welcome Rain, 2003).

Additionally, KRS is producing an album celebrating 20th anniversary of his Stop the Violence Movement, which he founded in 1988. The forthcoming project includes contributions from Nelly, Method Man, Busta Rhymes, The Game, and many others.

Who Is Lola

Diddy not speaking the truth

So when the Daily News quoted Diddy as recently telling Hot 97 he had spoken to Shyne who was “in good spirits,” the now 30-year-old rapper was shocked. “I want it known that this supposed conversation is a figment of Sean Combs’ imagination,” he says in a statement. “He never spoke with me, he never visited me nor would I ever accept a phone call or visit from him. The only way I would do either of those things would be if he stepped up and did the right thing for the victims of the incident.”

Now that bitchassness

Jay-Z MTV Hottest MC in the Game Acceptance Speech

MTV, Thanx for this nod of appreciation,” Jay wrote. “Although I don’t strive to be ‘hot’ for any particular year, I thank you for the acknowledgment. My whole goal is to be recognized as the best ever. I created the term ‘best rapper alive’ as a sign of respect to my fallen comrades (Biggie and Tupac). I believe I’ve allowed a significant grace period, and I believe I would not be respecting myself if being the absolute best was not my goal, and that’s why I continue to push myself until exhaustion … salute.

“Sidebar: Kanye moment if I may … Eminem?!?! I think you do the credibility of this list a disservice if you don’t thoroughly explain his omission,” Jay continued. “As of this second he has the highest selling rap album of the year and a scene stealing verse on the best ‘posse’ cut of the year . (*Hands mic back to Taylor Swift … and nobody was harmed, I apologize in advance.)”

My thought:jay-z is #1 right now and no one can say shit

Fab on 50

DJ GLEW: On Twitter you said: “Its interesting to c 50 Cent unite wit NY artists when he’s 1 of the reasons NY hip hop became so isolated & crumbled”. Can you further comment on this Tweet?

FABOLOUS: I think that if you were to ask 50 a couple years ago if you were to do a show with those people he would have said no. It was interesting to me. I actually was invited to do the show as well but I had a prior show so I couldn’t make it. He had these hopes up and he had really isolated himself with G-Unit when he first came out. He didn’t mix well with other artists and rappers unless it was Eminem, Dr. Dre, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and whoever was affiliated with him. He use to offer if you wanted to come be with him then you can come be with him and get money but other than that he wouldn’t rock with you. He hasn’t had many collaborations other than on his songs and this is why I found it interesting and out of no where they put together this show with New York rappers and Hip Hop which is great. But it’s kind of this destroy and rebuild situation.

MTV Answers Why Eminem Isn’t In The Top 10 Hottest MC’s

His hotly anticipated return to hip-hop after a long absence drove first-week sales of over 600,000 — the highest first-week sales of the year so far. But then Em retreated to the lab, where he spent the summer crafting Relapse 2. From June to September, Em all but took himself out of the public eye, while other MCs generated week-to-week heat with mixtapes, guest appearances, performances and Web activity. Eminem is one of the best ever on the mic. His track record is undeniable. The Hottest list deals with right now, though. If the Brain Trust had compiled the Hottest list back in May, there’s no doubt Eminem would have made the Top 10.

SHYNE Not Out Yet???

The former Bad Boy rapper (born Jamal Barrow) was scheduled to be released from prison Tuesday (October 6) after serving more than nine years of a 10-year sentence in connection with the 2001 Club New York shooting involving Diddy and Jennifer Lopez.

But his release is now under review, as representatives for the rapper revealed to MTV News that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained.
